Shoes off, always
Before you bookDo I need to be home?
No. Most of our recurring customers aren't. A lockbox, a code, a building front desk or a key we hold — you tell us which. If you'd like to be home the first time to walk through the place, that's welcome.
When am I charged?
Our team confirms payment options and timing with your quote before you book.
Why is the first visit a deep clean?
A regular clean is built to maintain a home, not reset one. Starting a plan on an unreset home means the first visits underdeliver. Skip it if the place was professionally cleaned in the last 30 days — there's a checkbox in the price card. Booked with a plan, the first deep clean is 15% off.

What a deep clean adds
Hand-wiped baseboards, doors and trim. Ceiling fans and reachable fixtures. Vents. Behind and under the furniture we can move. Grout scrubbed, shower-door scale treated, wall spots washed. About 1.6× the time — and the price — of a regular clean of the same home.
Add-ons & things we don’t clean
Inside the oven, the fridge and the cabinets, interior windows and laundry are add-ons — pick them above and the price updates. We don't do anything above a two-step ladder, exterior windows, carpet shampooing, mold, or post-construction dust where the debris hasn't gone. We'll say so before, not on the day.
One less thing to think about
We bring everything. Including the vacuum.
No supply run. No setting things out. Just open the door — we’ve got the rest.
Fresh cloths. Separate jobs.
Separate cloths for kitchens and bathrooms. Laundered between homes, ready for yours.
The whole kit. Already covered.
Our own tools and HEPA vacuums, emptied and wiped between homes.
Your home. Your preferences.
Fragrance-free on request. Prefer your own product for a surface? Tell us once — it goes in your house notes.
BroomStar was launched by the team behind BoxStar Movers — moving DMV homes since 2020, with 1,000+ five-star reviews on the moving side. Their rule is “leave every place better than you found it.” We took it literally.
Where we clean
Local to your kind of home.
Based in McLean. Cleaning homes across Northern Virginia, Washington, DC and Montgomery County — with one price list for the whole map.
Is my ZIP on the map?
Where we cleanTowns we're in weeklyOur office, McLean
Just outside the list? Ask — we'll tell you honestly rather than book you and cancel. In DC, sales tax (6%) applies and a $20 parking charge where street parking is metered — both confirmed before the visit, never added after.
Questions
The ones people actually ask.
Still wondering about something?
Text, call or email our team. We’ll help with your question.
Nothing. Put anything precious or private somewhere you like, and leave the rest. The mess is the job — it isn't a problem, and nobody is going to mention it.
How much does house cleaning cost in Northern Virginia and DC?
Use the calculator for a preliminary estimate based on your home and the cleaning you need. Our team confirms the scope, final price and availability before you book. Larger homes receive a personal quote.
What’s included in your price?
Because of what's behind the price. Our cleaners are W-2 employees — background-checked, trained by us, paid a real wage. If a clean isn't right, we come back free. If something breaks, we handle it. Your price covers the work and a local team accountable for it.
Will it be the same team every time?
That's how we build the schedule, and it's the point of recurring service. If someone on your regular team is sick or away, we tell you in advance and send a teammate who has read your house notes — or you reschedule at no charge. If your team isn’t the right fit, ask for a change. No explanation needed.
Is it safe for my kids and pets?
Yes. Child-safe and pet-safe products across the whole home are the default, not an upgrade. Fragrance-free on request. Tell us about allergies or a pet that's anxious around vacuums and it goes on the card.
Do you run background checks?
Yes, on every employee before they enter a home — criminal history, identity and employment verification. And every cleaner completes two weeks of paid training on our standard before working unsupervised.
How do keys and codes work?
Your choice at booking: be home, a lockbox, a smart-lock code issued just to us, or a key we hold. Keys are tagged by code — never by address — kept in a locked cabinet and signed in and out daily. Codes are stored encrypted and shared only with your assigned cleaner.
Can I skip or reschedule a visit?
Text or call us if you need to change a visit. We’ll go through the options with you.
Do you clean baseboards?
Every visit, every tier, no extra charge. Most companies charge for that or save it for deep cleans. We think it's part of cleaning a room.
Do you do laundry, windows, the oven?
Laundry, interior windows, inside the oven, inside the fridge and inside cabinets are add-ons — pick them when you price your home and the number updates. Dishes: we run the dishwasher and clear the sink on every visit.
Which areas do you serve?
Northern Virginia (Fairfax County, Arlington, Alexandria, Falls Church and eastern Loudoun — McLean, Tysons, Vienna, Reston, Herndon, Ashburn, Sterling), Washington, DC, and Montgomery County, Maryland (Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Potomac, Rockville, Silver Spring, Gaithersburg, Germantown). One price list for the whole map. The ZIP checker above gives a yes or no in a second.
How do I pay, and can I tip?
Our team confirms payment options and timing with your quote before you book. Ask us about tipping when you arrange your visit.
